Week 21: The Wheels on the Bike Go....

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. Colossians 3:16 (NLT)     If you finished the title of the blog by singing "round and round", you had a great childhood!  And you're my people. And yes, it's two weeks in a row with a bike theme for the title. There's a reason. It was   a high volume training week, so here is what I've done since Monday.... Weekly Stats: Weight: 177.4 +.4 lbs from last week Swim (3x) 4.37 miles (7,750 yards) 2:34:52 Bike (4x) 89.19 miles 5:33:04 Run (4x) 22.85 miles 3:51:04 Strength (x2) 38:32 Yoga (4x) 1:32:58 TOTALS: 17 workout sessions 116.41 miles 14:10:32      This was my largest volume week so far.  But just like previous weeks, I took each day one at a time.  Julie left to go to Delaware for Macey's wedding shower on Tuesday, so I had the chance...

Week 20: Just Like Riding a Bike!

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT)      Over the next 7-1/4 months, I will be doing a TON of bike riding.  Short rides, slow rides, high-intensity, and long rides. Outdoors or on the trainer.  I was the most comfortable on my bike I have ever been.   This was a big training week, but feel great. Nothing hurts and I got all my sessions in (double bonus!) Weekly training stats to start off the week! Weekly Stats: Weight:  177.0 -.2 lbs from last week  Swim (3x) 4.06 miles (7,150 yards) 3:05:40 Bike (3x) 87.99 miles 5:00:04 Run (4x) 22.14 miles 3:49:34 Strength (1x) 17:01 Yoga (5x) 2:04:34 TOTALS: 16 workout sessions 114.19 miles 14:16:53     I didn't realize as I was going through the week that it was going to be this big of a training ...

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." John 14:27 (NLT)       I'm now podcast famous!!  Well, maybe infamous.  Ned Nederlander (Martin Short) from The  Three Amigos defined infamous as "When you're more than famous".  Now, I'm not really sure about all that (I AM actually sure I'm not even famous!), but my episode did drop on Friday, so that was a fun surprise as I got out of my early morning swim! Here are my weekly stats to kick it off this week... Weekly Stats : Weight: 177.2 -.6 lbs from last week Swim (3x) 3.85 miles (6,775 yards) 2:16:19 Bike (3x) 80.67 miles 5:00:06 Run (3x) 18.31 miles 3:24:05 Strength (2x) 38:06 Yoga (5x) 1:54:05 TOTALS: 16 workouts 102.83 miles 13:12:41     This feels like an unexpected theme every week, but I really DID have another good week overall.  I'm just taking every day one workout at a t...

Volume 19, Week 18: Too Much Splish-Splash!

" This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or  discouraged.  For the  Lord  your God is with  you wherever you go.”   Joshua 1:9 (NLT)    Eighteen weeks of training completed since 11/4/24.  13 weeks to go to Eagleman, 34 weeks until Florida.  This was a recovery week, so it was nice to have lighter workouts and some days that only had one session.  But this week I did learn I got complained on for splashing too much while swimming laps!  More on that after this week's stats: Weekly Stats: Weight: 177.8 -.5 lbs from last week Swim (3x) 3.12 miles (5,500 yards) 2:00:04 Bike (3x) 48.49 miles 3:30:05 Run (2x) 11.62 miles 2:00:06 Strength (2x) 38:47 Yoga (4x) 1:41:20 Cardio (1x) 15:00 Totals: 15 sessions 63.99 miles 10:05:22     Recovery week!  More that 2 hours less time from last week, but still a big number for what I've done in previous plans.  Felt like I should have done so much...
